If there is paradise on Earth, it probably looks something like Seychelles. Thanks to its spectacular beaches, surprising wildlife, and year-round good weather, it is not difficult to see why one would wish to pursue remote work in this African archipelago nation. Luckily for you, it is now possible! Seychelles has its own Workccation Program that allows digital nomads to stay and work on the beautiful island.

What makes the program so attractive is the fact requirements are relatively straightforward. You don't need to do much to be a part of the Workcation Program, which is aimed at self-employed visitors such as freelancers or company/business owners. If you apply for the program, you have the opportunity to stay in Seychelles for up to 1 year.

To apply for the Seychelles Workcation Program, you must:

  • Have proof of being a freelancer or a business owner.
  • Have a valid passport.
  • Hold valid medical and travel insurance.
  • Have proof of income (how much is not specified).

To join the Workcation Program, you must set aside 45 euros for the application fee. Conveniently, it is possible to apply for the “visa” online. Click here to do it.

As Seychelles is getting more popular amongst tourists, more remote workers are heading to this tropical destination to live out their dream life. Being a digital nomad in Seychelles has its pros. For example:

  • Expect sunny weather all year round. Even though there are two seasons – a wet season and a dry season – you may expect overall good weather, which is always nice.
  • Enjoy a peaceful atmosphere with no distractions.
  • Wifi is available in most cafes (with some exceptions).

However, keep in mind that the cost of living is high. Seychelles ranks 24 on the cost of living index. So whether it is food, accommodation, or entertainment options, you must be prepared to pay quite a lot. The best way to save money is to choose season fruits and veggies. Otherwise, shopping in Seychelles can be painful for your budget.

There is no doubt Seychelles is a great digital nomad destination. Enjoy the island's pristine beaches and laidback atmosphere, connect with other ex-pats chasing after their dreams and soak in the rays of sun that bless the island all year round. Although Seychelles can be considered an expensive choice, its stunning nature, and fascinating wildlife make up for it. If you are ready for an adventure in Seychelles, we would love to hear from you!
